A unique Master’s Programme combining Indigenous storytelling, filmmaking, and Arctic perspectives through creative and academic exploration starting at the University of Lapland in Autumn 2026!

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

• Degree: Master of Arts (Art and Design)

• Duration: 2 years

• Application period: January 7-21, 2026

• Studies begin: Autumn 2026

YOU WILL LEARN film dramaturgy, narrative forms, and media art. Screenwriting for film and interactive media. Directing and production practices (fiction, documentary, media art). Artistic skills in filmmaking & audiovisual media. Academic research in Indigenous storytelling.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS are Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in media, visual arts, drama, theatre, journalism, or a related field. Good command of English for academic purposes. Relevant degrees from other fields may also be considered. There is no need for previous work experience, but portfolio included in the application should demonstrate competence in your writing/storytelling, artistic, or media skills.

BLENDED LEARNING Teaching is delivered partly through distance and hybrid learning, with scheduled intensive on-site sessions in Rovaniemi, Finland.
