AJR x AMOC x JEZEBRO
Aanaar Jazz Revival is a band from Inari, breathing new life into the jazz and funk music scene of the region after a long winter slumber. Their diverse repertoire features jazz and funk classics, such as the music of Herbie Hancock and The Meters, alongside their own original compositions.
The soulful lineup includes musicians from two generations of the Inari Swing Band: Rodney Francett (saxophone), Heikki Nikula (keyboards), Mika Vähärautio (trumpet), Samuli Arrela (guitar), Nicholas Francett (bass), and Kevin Francett (drums).
AJR is joining forces this year with rappers Jezebro and Amoc. Expect rap bangers infused with northern jazz flavors that won’t leave anyone cold.
Mikkal Morottaja, known as Amoc, is the first rap artist to rap in Inari Sámi. Amoc started rapping in the late ’90s. In his music, he deals with global issues and faults as well as the human mind and its problems often veiled behind the stories and metaphors. Amoc is an acronym for Aanaar Master of the ceremony (Master of the ceremony of Inari).
Jezebro, the Northern Sámi rapper blending melodic rap with hard-hitting beats, weaving in the traditional art of joik to create a unique and soul-stirring sound. His style is a fusion of melodic storytelling and raw energy, captivating listeners with every verse with a smooth flow.
