Angel Ellis is a citizen of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation and Director of Mvskoke Media. Her lessons teach the Indigenous community how to navigate when speaking with journalists, increase trust and civic engagement, and teach the non-Indigenous Newsroom how to best approach the Indigenous community as a valued stakeholder in their news production. Her lessons are anchored by stories of her ancestors to show how common misconceptions can lead to inaccuracies and misinformation. Ellis demonstrates how those inaccuracies can be avoided while centering the Indigenous voice in stories.
