Nina Nawalowalo is a theatre and movie director from Aotearoa (New Zealand).
In a career spanning more than 30 years, she has created a platform for the telling of Pacific stories across the globe.
She is a performer, mentor and teacher.
In 2013 Nawalowalo established the Solomon Islands National Women’s Theatre Company ‘Stages of Change’ as a means to address violence against women and girls.
A long creative collaboration over eight years Nawalowalo has created with the Luafutu family two stage plays, a radio drama and in 2022 a film.
At Skábmagovat 2023 we get to see her film, A Boy Called Piano – The Story of Fa’amoana ‘John’ Luafutu. Nina Nawalowalo will also attend the screening and we get to have a short Q&A after the screening.
