In 1974–1976, the New Zealand Police carried out racist raids on the immigrants from the Pacific Islands, though most of the people who overrun their recidence permits had come from Europe or North America. In the film, the three youngest children of a Samoan family imagine their lively home as a magical fairytale world of swords and witchcraft.
