The Sámi Museum and Nature Centre Siida is located near Sajos. For over 60 years, its exhibitions and events have lead visitors to the world of the age-old, lively Sámi culture as well as the Arctic nature.
Sámi Museum’s outdoor museum area is entirely protected by the Antiquities Act as an ancient monument area, where movement during winter is allowed only on plowed paths. It is the oldest researched dwelling site in the municipality of Inari, with the earliest settlement dating back almost 10,000 years. The habitation has continued through several different prehistoric periods for thousands of years.
