Denise Edmonds

Denise (Ngāti Porou) is a Māori writer, director, and script supervisor with a passion for storytelling that
amplifies indigenous voices. She holds a degree in Film, TV & Media Studies and English from The
University of Auckland, complemented by post-graduate qualifications as a certified English and
drama teacher. Denise wrote and directed the short films Taniwha, and Mōrearea. She also co-wrote and
co-directed the documentary Between Two Ears along with the short films Loose End, Sacrifarce, and
R.A.W.W. in collaboration with the Great Lake Film Society. Her work as a script supervisor includes the
feature films Ka Whawhai Tonu and Mārama, as well as TV series such as End of the Valley, Kairakau II, and
Beyond the Veil. Denise is dedicated to creating films that inspire, resonate, and bring people together,
always championing collaboration and inclusivity in her filmmaking.
